The other day I received a call from a local domestic violence shelter. A lady was in need of Angels of God’s help.
Every time I deliver to this shelter it is emotional. You see, this is the same shelter that changed the future for my children and I. They taught me that I was strong when I thought I was weak.
They empowered me…
When I get out of the car to go into the shelter, it brings back memories of walking the same steps with a baby in my arms and two little girls in tow.
Each time I drop off clothing for a domestic violence victim, I sit for a moment in my car. I say good thoughts, prayers, and good karma for the person that is about to receive them.
“I was once in your shoes. You are beautiful inside and out, you are strong, be the best self that you can be. You might feel like you’re at the very bottom, but you got this!
I hope when you put on these clothes that you feel loved. That they make you feel confident, strong, and powerful just like a superwoman cape!”
The clothing YOU donate can
-boost a persons self esteem
-help a person dress for success for a job interview
-give a person the confidence to walk into a job interview with a positive attitude
-allow a person to attend a court date dressed appropriately
Domestic violence knows no social, economic, ethnic, or racial boundaries.
If you know someone suffering from domestic violence, be that shoulder to cry on. Offer to drive them to counseling.
Let’s ALL empower by kindness! Go into your closets and drawers and pull out the clothing you can donate to someone in need.
