YOUR DONATIONS AT WORK! Today I was at Angels of God sorting and hanging clothing when there was a knock at the door. I went to the door and was greeted by a young man. His head was down and he quickly asked “I am not sure if I am in the right place but I was told you might be able to help me.” His head stayed down as he explained to me how he is living in his car and he has a job interview tomorrow and nothing to wear but shorts, t-shirt and a pair of flip flops. He said he has been on several interviews but has not been hired. He told me how he really wants to look his best tomorrow so he can get this job and get back on track.
I invited him to look through the men’s section. As he browsed, I packed up some food, toiletries, razors and shaving cream for him.
Not only did he find some long pants and causal shirts, he found 2 perfect interview outfits and dress shoes. I was also able to give him a pack of new underwear and socks.
We talked for a little while and I gave him some other resources that might be able to also help him. He really seemed like he just wanted someone to take the time to listen to him.
He shook my hand and expressed how thankful he was.
As he was packing his car up I asked him to follow me to Wawa. I filed his gas tank and bought him lunch. He again said how grateful he was. Before he left I made him promise me to come back in next week for food and to let me know how his job interview went.
TOGETHER WE made a DIFFERENCE!
