I graduated high school this week! It’s very bittersweet, as I am filled will both happiness and sadness (a strange combination!). A brand new door is ready for me to enter, and I am beyond excited to start the next chapter of my life. I am ready to take on the new challenges that have been placed in front of me.
I want to start out by saying Angels of God Clothing Closet is NOT closing. Angels of God is something I am very passionate about and is extremely close to my heart. As I filled out college applications, I sat with my Mom and discussed my future. I felt torn applying to colleges out-of-state, and even thinking of the possibility of not going to school locally made me feel guilty; Angels of God has been a massive part of my life since I was 12-years-old. But my Mom encouraged me to reach for my ultimate dreams, and not to let anything hold me back. She reminded me how I have helped and changed many lives, and that now is my turn to flourish. I will still have a tremendous part in Angels of God while attending college. I will lead weekly meetings via Skype (thank goodness for technology) and continue to have input and make decisions within the organization. I will also be attending Angels of God’s year-round fundraisers and events, so you will certainly still see my smiling face around! But I have decided to turn the day-to-day duties over to 2 other young, compassionate people that have big hearts for giving back. I will officially announce more information regarding this change before I step out on my new journey. And of course I know I can rely on YOU, the community, to continue my mission.
This August I will start a new journey at a university in California. I was blessed to receive scholarships and financial aid to cover a great amount of my college tuition. As many of you might know from my advocacy work, my family has fallen victim to domestic violence in the past, and my Mom has raised my sisters and I on her own. Due to the past domestic violence, I do not feel confident announcing the name of the university I will be attending this fall. I will be attending a college in a new state on the whole other side of the country by myself, and at this time I feel more comfortable not posting the college name publicly. But PLEASE feel free to ask me in person of my upcoming college plans and I would LOVE to share my excitement will you. xx
I have also decided to forgo a graduation party to host a fundraiser for my charity Angels of God. I will be posting a public invitation for everyone to join me for an Ice Cream / Dessert Social. Please mark your calendars for Sunday, July 26th 2-4pm. There is not a formal charge to attend this event, but instead we will ask you to bring a non-perishable food donation or monetary donation of $20 or more.
I would love if you could attend this event and help me celebrate my high school graduation and my send-off to college. Come say goodbye (or as I prefer: “see you later”).
Thank you all for your continued support six years later. This is not the end… only a beginning to something even bigger! Please continue to support Angels of God so TOGETHER we can help those in need and change lives.
